Hometown hero sees Brisbane swing behind Rudd

On a not very sunny day in the sunshine state federal electorate of Brisbane yesterday, people were tired of political talk.
Within the federal electorate is the state seat of Ashgrove, where LNP leader Campbell Newman is staging an audacious bid for Queensland's top job from outside Parliament.
First he has to beat Labor's sitting member Kate Jones, and both parties have been pulling out all the stops.
Last week, Mr Newman walked the electorate with Tony Abbott. But when Ms Jones phoned a friend, she bypassed prime minister Julia Gillard in favour of then-foreign minister, Kevin Rudd.
Yesterday, speaking to people on the streets of Wilston, in the state seat of Stafford neighbouring Ashgrove, it was easy to see why.
For swing voter Michelle Kelly, putting Mr Rudd back in the top job would be enough to sway her back to Labor.
